ROTARY SHREDDING EVENT RESCHEDULE

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club must cancel the Shredding Day event that was planned for Saturday, April 19, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm at Union Point Park.

“One of Rotary International’s Seven Areas of Focus is the Environment. To recognize this commitment, the New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club has held this shredding event in previous years during the Earth Day weekend by providing a safe way to dispose of important papers and documents that are shredded on site,” said Rotarian Andy Garlick, chair of this fundraising event. “Unfortunately, the truck we had arranged to be there on Saturday morning is now not available. Out of concern that individuals and businesses may not want to leave their documents in a temporary box truck for shredding within 24 hours, when the company could make a shredding truck available, the Club has decided to reschedule this community service event and fundraiser for a later date still to be determined,” he explained.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may have caused, but hopefully folks can hold onto their “shreddables” until we can arrange for another date in the next few months,” said Clifton Pike, President of the New Bern Breakfast Rotary Club.

This Shredding Event, like the club’s signature fundraiser, the B/S/H/ Oktoberfest on September 27, supports the community donations by the Rotary Club of New Bern Breakfast Charities. “Funds raised by our Rotary Charities are used in our community for such projects as Kicks-4-Kids that provides 300+ pair of new shoes annually to school children in Craven County, as well as five $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors, four $250 scholarships for students at the VOLT Center, one $1,000 nursing scholarship at Craven Community College. We also support other activities in our community including, but not limited to, the Neuse River Bridge Run, the YMCA, Breakfast with Santa, Habitat for Humanity, Bike Box Project, Colors for Cancer,” Pike explained.
