New Mural in Downtown New Bern

On April 19th, Craven Arts and Mitchell’s Hardware invite the community to join in painting a new mural, Be Someone’s Reason to Smile Today. The mural will be located on the south facing side of Mitchell’s Hardware at 215 Craven St. in downtown New Bern, NC. Painting hours will be held from 10 am to 4 pm. Designed by Craven Arts, the mural showcases the wonderful flowers and natural beauty of our region and provides an inspiration message to anyone who sees it. Message was chosen by Lindsay and Winnie Smith and designed in collaboration with Craven Arts.

For over 125 years, the Mitchell’s Hardware has served the local community in historic downtown New Bern. Mitchell’s Hardware is known for its garden, kitchenware, hardware supplies, and unique architecture on the interior. Be Someone’s Reason to Smile Today will enhance the artistic vibrancy of our downtown community and celebrate Mitchell’s Hardware, a longtime supporter of the arts and various other causes in our community.

Painting will take place on the south side of the building, across from Wilson Park. Members of the community are invited to participate in creation of the mural. Participation is free & an all-day event, and participants are welcome to stay for as long or little as they please. All participants will be required to sign waivers. The food truck, All About Churros, will be present serving food at assorted prices. CAC&G is currently seeking sponsorships for the mural starting at $50, available on-site and at cravenarts.org. Additionally, Craven Arts tee shirts will be available for sale on-site.
