Craven Arts Council is proud to present their annual Juneteenth exhibition in the Main Gallery of Bank of the Arts. Juneteenth showcases a variety of artworks from local African American artists. Craven Arts will host a reception during the June ArtWalk from 5 – 8 pm on Friday, June 13th. Artwalk on June 13th is featured as part of Juneteenth of New Bern’s 2025 18-day celebration.
Juneteenth is celebrated on June 19th every year and commemorates the announcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in the state of Texas after the Civil War. In honor of this historic celebration of freedom in the South, Craven Arts will host local African American artists to present works about African American history, culture, and identity. This year’s exhibition is curated by Diamond Campbell, a mixed media artist showcasing her work in acrylics and digital art featuring realism styles. Participating artists in this year’s exhibition include Crystal Felton, Kandyce Quintero, Tyrone Brown, Chrystal Fonville, and more. Each of the 8 panels in the Main Gallery will showcase a different artist, giving a platform for each artist to exhibit their artwork of various sizes, themes, and styles. Additionally, Artwalk on June 13th is featured as part of Juneteenth of New Bern’s 2025 18-day celebration.
The Craven Arts Council & Gallery is free and open to the public Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.
