Winterville, NC –Today, May 2, at the Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) 2019 National Conference held in Houston, Texas, Steve Stephenson, III was named 2019 BGCA National Board Member of the Year. Stephenson received the "League of Eagles Award" for his years of dedication to our local youth.  Boys & Girls Club of America (BGCA) has always valued the recognition of Board volunteers, since the inception of the National Awards Program in 1947, BGCA has encouraged Clubs to foster continued support of dedicated volunteers and professionals by presenting National Awards at annual Club and BGCA events. “Steve's tireless dedication to the well-being of youth is unparralled and we are so grateful for his efforts every day. We are so pleased to be able to honor him at this level,” stated Kimberly Boyd, President & CEO for Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain.

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain promotes Academic Success through programs such as Money Matters and Power Hour; Healthy Lifestyles through programs like Passport to Manhood, SMART Moves, and Street SMART; and Good Character and Citizenship by offering programs such as Junior Staff and Keystone Club.

The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. There are 17 Clubs throughout Pitt, Beaufort, Lenoir, Martin, Greene, Carteret, and Craven Counties serving approximately 1,400 members daily and over 3,100 annually.
